Curriculum

Welcome to our Honey Bee classroom. The majority of the children who are enrolled in this classroom are children whose birthdays fall during the months of August-December. This classroom consists of children who did not make the cutoff date for Kindergarten, have been through our 4 year old program, show advanced skills, or we feel they would benefit from a smaller classroom environment. This classroom closely matches our 4's classroom as far as curriculum, however, these children may move at a faster pace.

In the Honey Bees room you will find our Bee's hard at work, in a spacious classroom, writing and tracing their names, letters, and numbers. Through the use of music, stories, and poems we will work on phonics, sight words, and language skills. In addition we will explore graphing, money and time.

Homework is given each week to reinforce skills learned.

A Honey Bee's Weekly Nectar
A weekly schedule in review.

With the introduction of our new InvestiGator Club curriculum comes a variation in the arrangement of our weekly activities. Each week we will cover the foundational skills and traditional classroom practices we’ve always had but each day of the week may look different than the week before.

Each week, through one of seven investigation themes, children will use their natural curiosity and hands-on activities to learn the foundational elements of their education: the alphabet, their numbers, to write and speak effectively, and phonics. They will use these skills to work on math & science activities, reading, writing, and investigating as well as their social and emotional growth and well-being.

Our goal with these changes is to continue to provide the highest quality educational experience possible so your child can gain the skills he or she needs to be a successful learner.

"I'm very happy and impressed with the staff in the care of my son.  He is learning so much and really enjoys going to "school" and is ready now to go to kindergarten.  You all are doing an awesome job, and I hope the quality of care continues."
